Divorce and Workplace Mediation
I became a mediator in 1988 while studying for
my PhD in conflict resolution at Boston College. I was
drawn to mediation as a helping profession—a way
to help people disentangle themselves from difficult
relational situations. After mediating in the courts
for some years, I founded Interpeople Inc. in 1996,
offering mediation for families and workplace, with
offices in LITTLETON and ARLINGTON, MA.
I have mediated over 1,000 cases altogether, of
which about 700 cases were divorce mediations,
possibly more than any mediator in Central Mass. In
divorce mediation I guide people through all issues
that need to be covered—parenting, support, and
the financial aspects. Divorcing the traditional way
often drags on for years, costs an arm and a leg, and
undermines the parties’ relationship even further. In
contrast, in divorce mediation people save time,
money, and grief, and the children benefit from
their parents’ collaborative relationship. Note: the
tougher the case, the more people stand to benefit
from mediation. This applies to the workplace and
to business, too. If you are even thinking of going to
court, you owe it to yourself to try mediation first.
